Finally starting to SEW!!

Wow, that was more than enough cutting!  Time to sew!!!

Before I started sewing, I divided my fabrics into 3 rows, lights, mediums, and darks.  Starting with a dark piece of fabric, I would match it to the first light and medium.  Then, with another piece of the same dark fabric, I would match that to the 2nd light and 2nd medium.  My thoughts were that this would help me avoid having the same fabrics together over and over again!

Once the fabric was all matched in sets of threes, I sewed the trios using a 1/4 inch seam allowance.  I spread this out over a few days!  And of course, mom and kitty were there for moral support!
Yes, Kitty realizes that fabric is falling on him.  But that is no reason to give up a comfy pillow.

YAY!! Strips and more strips all sewn together and pressed!! For the most part, I am pleased with my sewing so far.  However, once I finished up ironing, I sadly realized that not everything was sewn quite as I had hoped!

Beginning a new quilt....

After much procrastination and deliberation, I am going to embark on the stressful and yet fun adventure of quilting.  I have decided to track this adventure because once you find yourself at the end of a project, it can be difficult to remember how you got there!!

This would absolutely NOT be possible without my beautiful mother!!  Not only does she have some great quilting instincts, she is very supportive of wild idea I want to try.  And I cannot fail to mention our quilting companion - Bubs, who will be helping us sew.  He is a great supervisor.  He might be a little confused because he usually sees my mom quilt (and is know to stage a petting protest on top of the sewing machine) but I am sure he will be ready to help me quilt as well!

A nervous smile - about to make the first cut!
The quilting guru, double checking my pattern reading ability!
My fabric is primarily from Tula Pink and was purchased in Stewartsvile, MO @ The Quilt Shoppe
This are 129 2.5 inch strips.  I really hope that it is in fact all 129 that I need....
The fun pattern I selected is from Jaybird Quilts!

Bubs spotted new fabric & came over to inspect.
The results: Yep! It's good fabric for sitting!

Come back to see the quilt develop!
I'd love quilting (or cat) feedback!
